The Audience

Helen Mirren reprises her defining role as Queen Elizabeth II in The Audience, broadcast to the Historic Asolo Theater at The Ringling via National Theatre Live. Written by Peter Morgan, the playwright behind The Crown, the narrative is structured around the highly confidential, weekly meetings between the monarch and her various Prime Ministers—from Winston Churchill to David Cameron—across sixty years of her reign. The screening captures the live London stage production, highlighting the razor-sharp political dialogue and Mirren’s masterful, rapid-fire shifts in age and demeanor as she navigates decades of British domestic crises and global conflicts from behind closed doors.
