The Bird Lady’s Guide to Florida’s Birds: Backyard Birds

Common urban and suburban wildlife are the subject of this outdoor lecture hosted by Save Our Seabirds. Instructor Mattie Watson breaks down the plumage, calls and nesting habits of the songbirds, jays and woodpeckers frequently found in residential neighborhoods. The presentation aims to help locals identify the species visiting their own feeders and understand the role these birds play in the regional ecosystem. Taking place at the organization’s City Island pavilion, the session grounds broad environmental concepts in practical, everyday observation.
