Wild Bird Rescue Training

Save Our Seabirds hosts an introductory workshop on safely assisting injured or distressed wildlife. Led by sanctuary staff in the outdoor pavilion on City Island, the class covers how to assess a bird’s condition, handle the animal without causing further injury, and securely transport it to a rehabilitation facility. While participants do not handle live animals during the session—practicing instead with a plush pelican—the curriculum provides the foundational skills necessary to volunteer with local rescue teams or intervene responsibly in emergency situations.
