Angel and the Badman

John Wayne's first film as his own producer, a 1947 western written and directed by James Edward Grant with Gail Russell as the woman who reforms him, gets a new telling from Angel Studios. In Angel and the Badman, directed by Julio Quintana, Zachary Levi takes the Wayne role of Quirt Evans, an outlaw who staggers onto a ranch with a bullet in his back and is nursed by the rancher's daughter, Penny, played by Meg Fraser. Neal McDonough leads the gang on his trail, and Oscar winner Tommy Lee Jones is also in the cast. Rated PG-13, the remake keeps the original's question of whether a gunman can lay the gun down.
