Artist Talk with Jorge Blanco

Internationally recognized sculptor and illustrator Jorge Blanco discusses his decades-long career at the Art Center Sarasota. Best known for his monumental, brightly colored aluminum figures and his long-running comic strip "El Náufrago," Blanco details his transition from the Children’s Museum of Caracas to his current studio practice in Florida. The evening talk coincides with the unveiling of a massive, site-specific piece by Blanco in the center's newly expanded bayfront sculpture garden. The presentation offers a deep dive into his geometric aesthetic, his fabrication process, and the ways his large-scale public works interact with their surrounding environments.
