Candlelight: Christmas Carols on Strings

A string quartet performs a selection of traditional seasonal music during this hour-long Candlelight recital at St. Boniface Episcopal Church. Thousands of electric candles provide the only illumination within the sanctuary, casting a warm glow over the musicians and audience. Stripping away the choral arrangements typically associated with carols, the program focuses on the resonant textures and harmonic interplay of the string instruments. The intimate, acoustically refined setting allows familiar holiday melodies to take on the nuance and precision of formal chamber music.
