Candlelight: Tribute to Adele

The vocal acrobatics of a British pop powerhouse are translated for a classical ensemble in this Candlelight tribute performance. Surrounded by a sea of glowing, battery-operated candles, a quartet takes over the sanctuary at St. Boniface Episcopal Church to perform instrumental interpretations of Adele's chart-topping ballads. Without a vocalist to carry the melody, the musicians distribute the emotional weight of tracks like "Someone Like You" and "Skyfall" across two violins, a viola, and a cello. The resulting arrangements emphasize the dramatic chord progressions and soulful underpinnings that characterize the singer's catalog.
