Cherry Pie (BOTY)

Timed around George Washington's birthday, the Cherry Pie Regatta is a longstanding nautical tradition at the Sarasota Sailing Squadron. Serving as a Boat of the Year (BOTY) qualifying event, the race attracts serious local competitors looking to secure points in the season-long standings. The multihull and monohull fleets navigate complex courses on Sarasota Bay, dealing with the often-unpredictable late-winter weather patterns. Following the races, the crews traditionally gather at the City Island clubhouse to review their tactical decisions over slices of cherry pie.
