Snowbird

Winter racing on Sarasota Bay gets underway with the Snowbird Regatta, a closed club race hosted by the Sarasota Sailing Squadron. Taking advantage of the cooler temperatures and consistent seasonal winds, the competition draws the club’s active membership of multihull, PHRF and one-design dinghy sailors. The local fleet uses the monthly event to test their tactics and boat handling against familiar rivals. Observers at the Ken Thompson Parkway clubhouse can watch the starts and mark roundings as the boats navigate the inshore courses.
