Demonstration Garden Tour: Twin Lakes Park

The grounds of Twin Lakes Park serve as an outdoor classroom during this walking tour led by the Master Gardener volunteers of UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County. Guides take participants through the meticulously maintained demonstration beds, highlighting practical examples of drought-tolerant planting and soil conservation. The route covers distinct micro-gardens, including sections dedicated to edible crops, native coastal vegetation, and butterfly-attracting flora. Rather than a lecture, the walk operates as a visual guide to sustainable horticulture, allowing residents to examine mature plant specimens up close and ask direct questions about adapting these techniques to their own residential properties.
