Rain Barrel Workshop

Environmental specialists from the UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County teach homeowners how to capture and utilize natural precipitation in this hands-on utility class at Twin Lakes Park. The workshop breaks down the mechanics of assembling and installing a rain barrel system to safely collect roof runoff for landscape irrigation. Instructors explain how residential harvesting lowers utility bills while simultaneously preventing non-point source pollution from washing into Sarasota Bay. Participants leave with the technical knowledge to construct a functioning, mosquito-proof water conservation system in their own backyards.
