Pond Problems? Open Forum

Water quality experts from the UF/IFAS Extension Sarasota County host an open discussion at Twin Lakes Park focused entirely on the maintenance and troubleshooting of residential stormwater ponds. The technical forum is structured to help homeowners and community association managers address common aquatic issues like aggressive algae blooms, shoreline erosion, and oxygen depletion. Rather than a standard lecture, the session allows attendees to present specific problems from their own neighborhood lakes for expert analysis. Instructors emphasize long-term ecological solutions, advocating for native shoreline plantings and proper aeration over the repeated use of chemical algaecides.
