Kimberly Akimbo

A teenager with a rare genetic condition that causes her to age four times faster than normal navigates the chaos of high school and her deeply dysfunctional family in the musical comedy Kimberly Akimbo. Staged by Florida Studio Theatre, the production adapts David Lindsay-Abaire’s acclaimed play with a score by Jeanine Tesori. The narrative balances bleak, absurdist humor with genuine emotional weight as the 16-year-old protagonist, who looks like a 72-year-old woman, gets caught up in her aunt's check-fraud scheme. The performance relies on sharp comedic timing and a surprisingly unsentimental approach to mortality and adolescent isolation.
