The Script Society Reads “Country Girls” by Stephen Brown

The Script Society, a specialized reading group focused on dramatic literature, meets at Bookstore1Sarasota to analyze Stephen Brown's Country Girls. The conversation focuses on the mechanics of the playwright's dialogue and the structural pacing of the narrative. Unlike a standard book club, participants read the work specifically to understand how it would function on stage, debating the subtext of the character interactions and the logistical challenges of the play’s stage directions. The session offers theater enthusiasts an opportunity to critically engage with a script before it ever enters a rehearsal room.
