South Florida Men’s Basketball vs. Rice

Outside shooting was the stated priority when Rob Lanier rebuilt the roster at Rice after a 13–18 season that left the Owls 11th in the American and out of the conference tournament under a changed bid structure. The five signees include Carmelo Adkins, a 6-foot-4 guard who averaged 13.5 points at USC Upstate; Zalan Flasar, Hungary's U19 Player of the Year; and Jacob Dar, back after a year at Seton Hall. South Florida has Reph Stevenson, a Division III transfer from DePauw who scored 1,037 points and grabbed 647 rebounds there.
