Sundays at The Bay featuring The Barabra King Quartet

Jazz singer Barbara King came up in Brooklyn and spent years on the New York circuit, with stands at Birdland, the Iridium and the Jazz Standard and a long run as a regular at Harlem's Lenox Lounge, before relocating to Sarasota, where she has since played the Sarasota Jazz Festival and the Jazz Club of Sarasota's Monday Night Jazz series. Her material runs to the Great American Songbook plus a handful of originals, delivered in a low, dusky register that critics keep comparing to Sarah Vaughan. For this free concert on the Oval at The Bay she brings her quartet; recent lineups have included pianist Pablo Arencibia. Lawn chairs and blankets are the seating.
