According to choreographer Christopher Wheeldon, “a series of small paintings or sketches that are inspired by the music” define the Company premiere of ‘;Within the Golden Hour’;. Gustav Klimt’s luminous gold paintings and the haunting tune of Ezzio Bosso inspired the shimmering abstraction, where dancers are bathed in the beauty and light of the golden hour.
Moving to the charm of Sir Frederick Ashton’s ‘;The Two Pigeons’;, where the first act is set in a bohemian Paris attic, with the amusing conflicts between the lovers on display. A romantic yet deeply moving love story, a wayward young man abandons his lover to experience the wider world, only to return seeking forgiveness. Premiered originally on Valentine’s Day, the ballet finds its emotional heart when the lovers—or the “two pigeons”—reunite for the better, capturing warmth, humor, and the multi-faceted nature of love.
Accompanied with live music by the Sarasota Orchestra.
