Guys and Dolls

Guys and Dolls, the 1950 Broadway musical that ran for 1,200 performances, closes Manatee Performing Arts Center's Stone Hall season. Frank Loesser wrote the score, and Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows shaped the book from Damon Runyon's stories of a mythical New York. The plot follows gambler Nathan Detroit, hunting for cash to stage the biggest craps game in town while his fiancée Adelaide marks a fourteen-year engagement, and Sky Masterson's pursuit of the missionary Sarah Brown, which wanders from Times Square to Havana to the sewers. Roles are filled through open community auditions.
