The coastal habitats of Florida take focus in this educational presentation at Save Our Seabirds. Longtime wildlife volunteer Mattie Watson—known locally as the Bird Lady—details the identifying marks, feeding behaviors and seasonal movements of shorebirds, herons, egrets and other marsh-dwellers. Held in the City Island sanctuary's outdoor pavilion, the talk equips casual observers with the knowledge to distinguish between similar species seen along the local coastline. Following the lecture, attendees can walk the facility's boardwalks to view rescued avian residents undergoing rehabilitation.
