Golden Girls: The Laughs Continue

The beloved television retirees get a decidedly adult, drag-fueled update at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. This touring parody production stages a completely new script that thrusts the Miami roommates into modern scenarios, pushing their established personality traits to absurd, raunchy extremes. The plot finds Sophia out on bail for running a drug ring, while Rose and Blanche attempt to launch a dating app for seniors. The actors deliver rapid-fire insults and campy, sexually explicit dialogue that shatters the polite boundaries of 1980s network television. The unhinged comedy leans heavily into the inherent theatricality of the characters, delivering a loud, profane homage to the original sitcom.
