Film scores carry the whole evening in this opener to the Sarasota Orchestra's Pops season. Guest conductor Evan Roider, rather than Music Director Giancarlo Guerrero, leads selections that range from the sweep of Ben-Hur to the creeping dread of Psycho, the brooding drama of The Godfather, the grand love story of Gone with the Wind and the storybook warmth of Disney's Beauty and the Beast. The program runs about two hours with an intermission at the Van Wezel.
