Mozart & Dvořák

The Sarasota Orchestra pairs the classical elegance of the 18th century with the sweeping romanticism of the 19th century in a Masterworks program featuring Mozart and Dvořák. The performance requires the ensemble to navigate severe stylistic shifts, moving from the precise, transparent string articulation demanded by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart to the dense, folk-inspired orchestration characteristic of Antonín Dvořák. The concert highlights the technical versatility of the musicians, specifically the woodwind and brass sections, which must adapt to vastly different harmonic structures within the same evening. The program offers a rigorous, high-contrast exploration of the evolving symphonic form.
